MAKEUP REVOLUTION REVIEW AND SWATCHES

Thursday, 14 May 2015
There is no denying that every single beauty blogger, vlogger, youtuber or whoever: are raving about Make-up Revolution recently and today I am going to be reviewing some items which are these two palettes and two lipsticks. (You can read my previous posts ft Make-up Revolution: haul post here and my White Chocolate palette review here

During my trip to Birmingham last week, I stumbled upon my first Make-up Revolution counter in Superdrug as we don't actually have one here in the not so little town of Middlesbrough. In all honesty, I had to refrain from picking everything up as I have made it my mission to own everything they sell but instead, I came away with these four things to add to my ever growing make-up collection.

'Redemption' Palette (£4.00) | 'Iconic Dreams' Palette (£4.00) | Lipsticks: 'Reckless' and 'Rebel with Cause' (£1.00 each)
Firstly, lets discuss palettes. There is no denying that I am now officially a palette hoarder, three of which being from Make-up Revolution of course. Alongside my palettes, I have quite a few eyeshadow pots in my collection ranging from MAC and Urban Decay to Natural Collection and other miscellaneous shadows, which does means I have quite a variety to compare to. Let's talk pigmentation. Pigmentation is one of the most important things when it comes to a good shadow, no one wants to use more product than necessary. As you can see from my swatches above, the colours come up amazingly and that was from me only lightly running my finger across the shadows. I would compare the pigmentation in shadows to brands like MAC. In fact, I would probably say that the pigmentation from all of these shadows are better than the ones which are in my 'On the Run' palette by Urban Decay. Let's talk staying power. Most people know that the key to good staying power, is to have a good base. But in addition to that, we still expect our shadows to last through the day without the colour fading regardless of the base. I've worn these shadows without using an eye primer and they lasted all day long without fading, smudging or anything. Blend, blend blend! I never like a harsh line with my shadows so I like to make sure that they are easy to blend, especially when I'm trying to do a perfect (ha, yeah right!) smokey eye. I like to use my Wilko's premium eyeshadow brush to blend, and if you were thinking I couldn't praise one company any more in one post... well you were wrong! These shadows are great to blend, easy to wear and come in a variety of shades and finishes... what more does a beauty addict want? I'm not entirely what these shadows are made of but it must be something magical
Lastly, lets discuss lipsticks! Guess what? I have ANOTHER purple lipstick. Yep. Another one. Oh wait, and another red shade which I "so definitely needed." These are the first lipsticks I've tried from Make-up Revolution but these days, before I buy anything beauty related I have to check out to see if any of my fellow blogger friends have written a review on them first. I picked up the two shades 'Rebel' and 'Reckless with Cause', for starters: how badass are those names? Considering you only pay a single pound per lipstick, you probably wouldn't really expect much from them. Well think again! When I tried on these lipsticks, the first thing I noticed was how moisturising and pigmented they were. I was pleasantly surprised on how much they hydrated my lips (and my hand of course.) I can't really comment on the staying power as I haven't really done much make-up since purchasing these last week but from what I saw when trying to get them off my hand, they do put up a fight! I hope this reflects well when drinking/eating and general wear.
I really encourage everyone to go and check out Make-Up Revolution if you haven't already. Amazing quality products for amazing prices! Plus, they are cruelty free and release new products all the time. Congratulations if you have made it this far, as this post is essentially one big ramble on how much I love this company. Let me know in the comments what products you would recommend and want me to try out next! See you in the next one :-)

  8. Makeup Revolution palettes are some of my favourites, it's just insane that they're as cheap as they are considering the quality. I have a couple of those lipsticks too, and as much as I love the finish and feel (and the price, of course), I HATE the packaging. Every one I've bought has either had a lid that doesn't stay on or something breaks almost immediately. I wish they'd sort that out! Fab post, I love reading other people's opinions on things I know I already like.
