THE REASONS I AM SCARED TO LOOK AT ANALYTICS

SEO, analytics, Business, blogging
I for one am not the most focused soul out there. When reading a huge block of text, regardless of how important it is for me to know that information - I still find myself skim reading and not really taking any of the info in. Maybe that's why I struggled with exams? So after being apart of the blogging world for a year, I started hearing more and more about statistics, SEO and other boring long words I don't understand. After finally settling on my URL and layout, I decided to take it upon myself to learn more about the more ~business-y~ side of blogging. Let me tell you this. I find it terrifying. I don't have the attention span to read huge amounts of texts full of big words I don't particularly understand and no matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to grasp it.

A few weeks ago, I posted on a Facebook group asking if there's an easier way to understand all these different figures and words and someone pointed me towards the Analytics app as its supposedly easier than the web browser version. Nope, not to me. Now it has gotten to the point where I'm too scared to open up the app as I don't understand a lot of the numbers and where they've come from. I've asked many people before what is the average certain aspects should be for a blog who is turning two in December, and my blog has always fallen far below that average. I have no idea what I'm doing or how to improve. Any time I ask for help, I get overwhelmed with all sorts of lovely people trying to help by linking me to precisely written articles but I've not come across any articles for someone like me.

I don't really know where I was trying to go with this post, I just know that I needed to get my thoughts out there. I've not posted very much recently (one post a week maybe??) because I feel really down with my blog due to this. I guess I've become too focused on numbers and have started to beat myself up if I'm not getting good page views or a good bounce rate rather than trying to focus on trying to make content I'm happy with. If you make content that make you happy, that will resonate through your posts thus making your stats better as people can see how passionate you are about your blog.

  2. I can't look at it either, I just stick to the stats on blogger and I don't even care if they're wrong

  4. I second what Samantha said :) Don't worry about the numbers or get bogged down by it at all. I very rarely look at my stats, can't remember the last time I did. Going to have a nice look around your blog now though, love the design! x

  5. I don't care one iota about stats.
Don't get yourself too concerned with it, your blog is interesting and a great read.
For me, blogging is for fun, I don't have a set schedule or care much if brands want to work with me etc but I can understand why some bloggers DO care.
I think you have nothing to worry about xx

  6. I really don't understand Google Analytics at all. Any time I look at it it's just disheartening too.

  7. Aww bless your heart! My stats are nowhere near the averages either. Like you say I think as long as you're happy with your blog you don't need to concern yourself with the numbers! Please try not to let it get you down lovely! xx
